About Steeleville, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Steeleville is a lovely community in a beautiful, green section of the Midwest. There are flat and beautiful prairies, fields, meadows and farms as far as the eye can see. It is untouched, untampered with and pure in a great many ways. The traditional country “friends helping friends” attitude is very apparent in this town. It is a great place to visit for a country escape or even just a Sunday drive. But, it’s also a pretty awesome place to live. Kids are running through the green fields in the summer and mushing through the snow to the bus in the winter.
Fort de Chartres, a nearby historical attraction, served as the French seat of government and its main martial base. Later, France yielded much of its property in America to Britain. British soldiers occupied the fort from 1765 until 1772, when Mississippi River flooding caused a collapse of the southern wall. Later, the enduring stockades and buildings decayed and fell apart. Over the years, the fort has gone through many lives and served many purposes. It has been renovated and improved at different occasions as well. It was named a National Historic Landmark in 1960 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. It was clear then that this fort merited preservation. Currently, the site is an exhibition hall which features an inspired facelift to portions of Fort de Chartres. This would be a great day trip to take if you were in search of an indoor activity to get out of the heat of summer or cold of winter.
Steeleville is exceptionally appealing since that St. Louis is only a short drive away. There, residents have access to business and industry, shopping malls, healthcare facilities, etc. People who are looking to raise a family in a quiet and safe setting will find just that in Steeleville. It is a slice of heaven right in the middle of our nation! It is idyllic. Watch the seasons change, and the children grow, right in front of your eyes.
